Abstract: Instafamous architecture” is an autonomous architectural movement of the self-media age that has sometimes been alienated and dismissed by the mainstream architectural profession. However, it has never stood alone and is embedded in the history and theory of architecture, and in communication and the economy. This thesis takes a retrospective look at the history of the movement and examines its inevitability through the multidisciplinary theoretical relationships of Instafamous architecture, and it develops a historical and theoretical framework for this missing chapter of modern architectural history. Under this framework, the values and risks of Instafamous architecture are evaluated, drawing the authors to the conclusion that Instafamous architecture reflects the zeitgeist of the contemporary self-media age.
